<h2>Why should you participate in the Democratic Party caucuses? </h2>The Democratic Party caucuses in Colorado are a grassroots nomination process that begins in early March and helps decide which Democratic candidates qualify for the June 20th, 2026 primary ballot. Unlike a state-run primary election, caucuses are organized by the Democratic Party — and while Colorado has abolished presidential caucuses in favor of primaries, the Democratic Party still uses precinct caucuses followed by county and state assemblies to determine ballot access for non-presidential statewide, congressional, and legislative races. Registered Democrats in each precinct meet between March 3–7, 2026 (check the Adams County Democratic Party website for details including locations, most caucuses in Adams County will be held on Saturday, March 7th). At their precinct caucus, participants elect delegates to the county assembly using a proportional system wherein allotted delegates decide who advances to the State Assembly on March 28 in Pueblo. At the state assembly, delegates cast votes to formally nominate and place candidates on the Democratic primary ballot based on party rules and support levels. The state assembly then finalizes nominations for the primary. Because caucuses involve in-person or virtual meetings and require active involvement, they tend to attract a smaller, more engaged subset of Democratic voters who help shape the party’s slate of candidates ahead of the broader primary and general elections

<h2>Why you should participate in the 2026 caucus:</h2>The Democratic Party caucuses are a grassroots nomination process that begins in early March and helps decide which Democratic candidates qualify for the June 30th primary ballot. Unlike a state-run primary election, caucuses are organized by the party — and while Colorado abolished presidential caucuses in favor of primaries — the Democratic Party still uses precinct caucuses followed by county and state assemblies to help determine ballot access for non-presidential statewide, congressional, and local races like ours.Registered Democrats in each precinct will meet Saturday, March 7th (at the locations listed below) to elect delegates to the county assembly held on Saturday, March 14th (to be held at Horizon High School). Here, they will express their preferences for races up and down the ballot.At caucus, delegates are chosen for the county assembly. If fewer than 700 delegates sign up to attend the assembly, all who are interested may attend. If more than 700 delegates sign up to attend, delegates are allocated proportionally according to population and in accordance with caucus attendees' candidate preferences. So, it's very important to show up to your precinct caucus and, if possible, volunteer to become a delegate to the county assembly. Those who are unable to make it to the precinct caucuses due to work and illness can reach out to the Adams County Democratic Party chair if they would still like to attend the county assembly. Please fill out the form below if you'd like to attend the assembly but can't make it to caucus or would just like more information on caucus.At the county assembly, delegates are elected to the state and congressional district assemblies. We also will take votes to formally nominate and place candidates on the Democratic primary ballot based on party rules and support levels. This multi-stage process is so important because it gives ordinary Democrats direct influence over which candidates appear on the June primary ballot, though candidates may also qualify by petition outside this route. If our campaign receives 30% of votes at the assembly, we automatically make the ballot. And if we receive over 70% of votes at assembly, my opponent has to turn in 1000 signatures to make the primary ballot.Participation in the caucus and assembly process requires registering as a Democrat by February 13th, 2026, as well as being a resident of the relevant precinct. Because caucuses involve in-person or virtual meetings and require active involvement, they tend to attract a smaller, more engaged subset of Democratic voters who help shape the party’s slate of candidates ahead of the broader primary and general elections. By our calculations, fewer than 2,000 of our 500,000 Adams County residents ever have participated in this process. I'm running for Adams County Commissioner in District 4 because I've lived in our community since I was born and I care deeply about our community's future. I made friends from all over the world attending Flynn Elementary, right here in District 4. My parents bought their first home just a few blocks from where I live today. And I got my first job cleaning up trash at Water World when I was fourteen.I know that Adams County has unique potential because I've lived it. And because Adams County provided me with the resources and opportunities to meet my fullest potential, I feel an obligation to protect our community, its resources, and the opportunities they provide for future generations.

<h3>Adams County is where I was born and raised, and Adams County will always be my home.</h3>Since my great-grandfather moved to Brighton over 100 years ago, Adams County has been a land of opportunity and freedom for my family. In their memory, I’m committed to fighting for equal opportunities and freedoms for the other families who live here—whether they have been here since time immemorial or immigrated recently.Growing up here in Adams County brought out the best in me. My parents led by example. They both chose to serve our community over serving themselves, pursuing careers in law enforcement, public service, and nonprofits. While earning a Ph.D. from 2017-2023 at the University of Southern California, I worked multiple jobs as an adjunct professor to pay my rent and bills. I will draw on this experience to better represent my neighbors who live paycheck-to-paycheck.As a professional social scientist, my research focuses on issues of society and technology, such as protecting kids from predatory social media algorithms or the relationship between digital infrastructure, economic growth, and inequality. This experience positions me to make wise, research-informed decisions on matters like datacenter development, workforce automation, artificial intelligence, and other issues related to technology and economic development. I look forward to using my decade of experience and expertise in collecting and analyzing data to improve systems, save money, make wise land-use decisions, focus on the right problems, and hire the right people as an Adams County Commissioner.For twenty years, the values I was raised with have informed my work as an activist, educator, researcher, social scientist, political consultant, communications professional, and labor organizer.<ul><li>As an executive of the CU Student Government, I managed a staff of 20, a budget of over $20 million, and negotiated the best tuition deal for undergraduate students in a decade when I was just 21 years old.</li><li>As a campaign consultant and activist, I helped progressives and Democrats win tough elections, performed research and analysis for national labor unions like AFSCME, SEIU, the NEA, and the AFL-CIO, and fought to make the Democratic Party more inclusive for young people and communities of color.</li><li>As a scholar, I worked in a research lab focused on healing the partisan divide, helped organize one of the most successful unionization campaigns for workers at a private university, and published award-winning research on new technologies.</li></ul>Wherever I've worked, I’ve always prioritized teamwork, collective problem-solving, and solidarity. And I've learned how to bring ordinary, hard-working people together to fight against entrenched, special interests at every level of government. Today, I live on the south side of my hometown, Westminster, with my boyfriend and our puppy. I work as a full-time faculty member at a local college, where I help young people from our community refine their professional skills and devise strategies for getting new business.
